NEW ORLEANS — Rahji Dennis is becoming a household name very quickly this spring.

Dennis, an On3 three-star wide receiver from New Orleans powerhouse Edna Karr, boasts blazing track and has taken a huge leap in his development in recent months. The 6-foot, 170-pound Dennis has also seen his recruitment ballon as college coaches caught a glimpse of the rising senior pass-catcher this spring, including last weekend’s spring game.

Ole Miss and Texas A&M are among the new SEC overtures to arrive from Dennis, currently ranked as the No. 154 wide receiver in the country. Memphis, Louisiana-Lafayette and Miami are other teams that entered the mix with Dennis this spring.

USC is already recruiting the Louisiana speedster in track. Florida and Florida State are two more programs that are showing interest.

The Hurricanes moved the needle ever since they extended an offer back in January.

“Definitely Miami,” Dennis told On3, when asked about top schools.

“Louisiana and Memphis are schools I speak to, but Miami has basically been No. 1 since I got the offer,” he continued. “There’s been like 15 different people on the coaching staff recruiting me. There are so many people recruiting me, it’s a lot of love right now.”

The Hurricanes are already trending for an official visit from Dennis.

“I’m definitely considering them for an official visit,” he said. “They’re a top three school and I want to see what the school is like and how everyone treats me and each other, and how I blend in with the team.”

Dennis primed for a big senior campaign

Dennis is emerging as a Power 5 wide receiver prospect this spring as he ascends into a leadership role on Edna Karr’s offense.

Here’s what On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman had to say about Dennis earlier this spring.

“2024 WR Rahji Dennis headlines the senior crop,” he wrote. “The 6-foot, 170-pounder clocked a 10.2-second 100M last spring and a 21.09-second 200-meter earlier this month. Dennis’ speed on the track has been mirrored by development at his position. This spring, Dennis has been used on gadget plays and designed end-arounds, and has also been outstanding stretching the field vertically and making tough combat catches in the middle of the field.”

Mississippi State, Duke, Tulane and Grambling State are among the other college offers that have landed for Dennis over the course of the spring. That list seems primed to expand, again, this summer as camp season picks up.
