2025 top 200 OL Avery Gach gathering information on Notre Dame one visit at a time

2025 top 200 OL Avery Gach gathering information on Notre Dame one visit at a time

Avery Gach’s Notre Dame experiences have been different, to say the least. And the 2025 four-star offensive lineman’s most recent one was the most encouraging.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Gach from Beverly Hills (Mich.) Wylie E. Groves High unofficially visited Notre Dame on April 22 for the Blue-Gold Game. It was his second trip to campus and his first since picking up an Irish scholarship offer during their March 17 Pot of Gold Day recruiting event.

A rainy forecast during last month’s visit prevented an extended stay and eliminated meetings with head coach Marcus Freeman and offensive line coach Joe Rudolph. As a result, he has not spoken extensively with any Notre Dame coaches during his two times on campus.

Gach previously visited for the Marshall game on Sept. 10, when he held no scholarship offers. Now, he has 19 Power Five offers and is one of the country’s top high school sophomore offensive linemen.

And Irish quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli let Gach know as much in their virtual conversations after stopping by his high school earlier this spring.

“(Guidugli) told me I was a big priority,” Gach said. “They need a ton of linemen. I look like a prototypical big lineman. I’ve enjoyed talking to him a lot.”

In addition to Guidugli, Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and coaches from SEC schools, Miami (Fla.), Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State have been by his school this spring.

The On3 Industry Ranking considers Gach the No. 186 overall player, No. 10 interior offensive lineman and No. 3 prospect in Michigan in 2025. He has a 91.16 rating.

In On3’s own rankings, Gach is the No. 191 player, No. 9 prospect at his position and No. 3 player in the state. On3 gave him a 90 rating.

Gach looking forward to hearing more from Rudolph, learning about Notre Dame

Leading up to Gach’s visit for Notre Dame’s annual spring game, the sophomore offensive lineman frequently contacted Rudolph. However, Gach has not heard much from the Irish O-line coach since then and is still waiting for him to stop by his school.

After all, there’s still a lot Gach likes about Notre Dame, even if he’s heard it secondhand so far.

“They produce a ton of big-time NFL linemen,” he said. “I like the college. It was really nice. It was pretty and stuff like that. I wished I could’ve got more time with Coach Freeman.”

Gach’s time with Freeman and Rudolph could come soon enough. Because of his previous condensed visit, Gach is interested in returning to South Bend and perhaps even participating in a summer camp session.

But until then, Gach assured he wouldn’t let all the attention from Power Five programs get in the way of accomplishing his junior season goals, even if a trip back to Notre Dame is an exception.

“My main goal is to take my team to Ford Field and win a state championship,” he said. “I want to ball out this season. I know there is a target on me, so I have to have a good mindset and keep grinding.”
