After visiting Miami twice this spring, IMG Academy 2024 three-star defensive lineman Jayden Jackson is keeping an eye on the Hurricanes as he looks at a possible summer return visit.
Miami made a real impression on the No. 652 overall prospect in the 2024 class and the No. 60 defensive lineman in the On3 Industry Ranking, who has gained substantial interest from Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Penn State, among others. Jackson has well over two dozen offers and has an official visit set with Florida June 2, and he’s looking at returning to Coral Gables this summer.
“I’ve got nothing but positive feedback from them,” Jackson said. “I really did love my last visit. …We’ve had multiple players from IMG go there, and all they’ve had to say were just great things.”
Miami is battling Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Florida to land the 6-foot-1.5, 295-pound defensive tackle. He said he hears from each of the five programs “pretty much daily, if not twice a day.”
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Ohio State as the early favorite for Jackson with an estimated 87.5% chance to land the three-star lineman; however, he took two visits to Miami this spring (first for the Hurricanes’ junior day March 4 and again for Mario Cristobal’s pool party May 13), one to Texas and one to Florida.
Miami’s Francis Mauigoa has also been involved in his recruitment as he and his brother, linebacker Francisco Mauigoa, continue to preach positivity about the Hurricanes. Defensive line coach Joe Salave’a has led Miami’s recruiting effort from the staff.
Jackson said Miami’s staff has told him they want him back on campus this summer, although he isn’t sure if it’ll be for an official visit or an unofficial visit. Regardless, he said he’ll be back on campus in some capacity.
He also wants to visit the other four schools in his top five in some capacity.
CaneSport’s Take
There’s reason for Miami fans to have a little bit of excitement for Jackson, who has crept onto Miami’s priority list. He’s another elite defensive line prospect the Hurricanes have placed themselves in excellent position with in addition to recruits like five-star Justin Scott and five-star David Stone, and there’s been no shortage of teams lining up for their shot at Jackson, despite his overall ranking. Fans should also expect programs to continue their aggressive pushes for the three-star prospect.
He has an On3 NIL Valuation of $14.4k.
