Elite baseball prospect Bubba Coleman talks Jay Johnson, LSU commitment

2026 Hoschton (Ga.) infielder Bubba Coleman committed to LSU Baseball before he even entered high school and he’s still locked in with the Tigers. The elite prospect sees the vision Jay Johnson has to get the Tigers back to another National Championship.

He knows it’s a proven method and enjoyed Johnson’s honesty in his recruitment process.

“Just his confidence about the way he goes on about things,” Coleman told On3. “He’s been around for a while so he knows what he is doing. He’s got a lot of experience and even in the biggest game he never looks nervous or scared.

“Coach Jay and the other coaches kept it honest with me from the start. (Watching the Natty) felt good knowing that I was going to be there in a couple years. It felt good knowing that Jay knows and has what it takes to take a team there and let alone win it.”

Coleman’s excited to suit up and play in front of the fans at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

“I went to an LSU football game and it wasn’t even a big game but the fans and atmosphere was ridiculous,” Coleman said. “The fan base is just incredible. They are known as the powerhouse of baseball and have a ton of dudes that have made it to the big leagues.”

This summer, he’s had another stellar offensive showing. Still, he’s not satisfied and continues to work at his game ahead of his junior year.

“I have been working on gaining weight, getting faster and stronger,” Coleman said. “My strengths are hitting the ball gap to gap with power. (I have) Clean actions in the infield and have a good arm to go with it. And a great bat.”

Perfect Game ranks him as a 9.5, which is between a potential very high draft pick and/or Elite level college prospect and a potential top 10 round pick and/or highest level college prospect. He’s already 17 years old.
