Linebacker Montay Weedon to officially visit Texas in June
Linebacker Montay Weedon was one of the key 2024 visitors at the Texas Longhorns spring game April 15.
The 6-foot, nearing 210-pound linebacker impressed the Texas staff on junior video with his instincts and physicality resulting in an offer March 2, 2023.
On Sunday, Weedon informed Inside Texas he will be back in Austin in June. The St. John’s College High prospect will make an official visit June 16-18 with family members.
Texas assistants Pete Kwiatkowsi and Jeff Choate were by St. John’s College High in May, and scheduled the official visit.
Weedon on Texas
Inside Texas spoke with Weedon following his visit with members of the St. John’s College High coaching staff.
“It was great,” Weedon told Inside Texas April 18. “I loved everything, the city of Austin, the university and the program. I have talked to Coach Choate ever since Coach PK offered me. Coach Choate was just breaking down how they run the program, and what to expect, and how I would fit into the defense.”
Weedon spent time with a few Texas players on the visit. One of them is a former St. John’s College standout that Weedon knows he can go to for information on Texas.
“I talked with Keilan Robinson,” Weedon said. “He was just telling me it was a great city to go to college. And a great city and college for networking. And the city was great. The people were nice. They showed me the networking possibilities.”
