Communication with 2026 targets pick up, including a new TE offer
At midnight as Friday turned to Saturday, the class of 2026 was able to receive calls, DMs texts and FaceTimes from coaches without the recruit having to start the interaction. Recruiting departments sent out graphics and a ton of teams created new cool hashtags to post.
Texas has an official visit weekend going on so the program’s social media focus is on the 2025 class. But in years past, like with the below post from 2023, Texas made sure to note its excitement for junior prospects.
Recruiting departments and coaches reached out to some of the top guys on their board who they are looking to land commitments from in the 2026 class. They are what you call priority recruits or offer takes.
One of Texas’ communications in the 2026 class was to Decatur (Ill.) Mt. Zion tight end JC Anderson, who picked up an offer on Saturday.
The kids who didn’t receive calls or graphics are more than likely lower on the recruiting board. The staff needs to continue to go through the evaluation process to move them up the board.
For the kids who didn’t get any graphics, they shouldn’t be discouraged. Every recruitment process is different. There were plenty of kids who didn’t get calls from Power Conference programs in years past who ended up shaking Roger Goodell’s hand. The guys who got the calls, graphics, and text messages shouldn’t settle or get complacent.
Texas hashtag for the upcoming class is #AllGas26. If you happen to scroll through Twitter you’ll be able to identify some of the priority targets Texas is after when they put the blitz on those prospects.
