Kansas State continues to stay hot on the recruiting trail. Kearney, Nebraska linebacker Sawyer Schilke has committed to K-State.
Schilke did not hold his offer from the Wildcats for long. The Nebraska native was offered at the Kansas State camp on June 7th. However, he had been waiting on the offer from Kansas State. With a long list of linebackers visiting K-State, Schilke jumped the line and announced his commitment.
The rising senior was originally committed to Northern Illinois. He initially committed to the Huskies over an offer from North Dakota State. Nebraska and Minnesota were also showing interest in the Kearney native.
A tip of the hat goes to Kansas State linebackers coach Steve Stanard. The linebackers coach had been recruiting Schilke for a bit, despite the offer not coming until recently. Schilke enjoyed being coached by Stanard at the camp and will now be coached by him in Manhattan.
Kansas State has had success recruiting Nebraska under Chris Klieman. Garrett Oakley is a Cornhusker State native who was ironically committed to Northern Illinois before flipping to the Wildcats. Keagan Johnson is another Nebraska native who came to Kansas State after transferring from Iowa.
K-State has been rolling on the recruiting trail. Schilke is the fourth player in the 2025 class to announce his commitment to the Wildcats since June 9. Overall, he is the No. 7 commitment in the 2025 class for Kansas State. He joins quarterback Dillon Duff, linebacker Weston Polk, offensive lineman Will Kemna, cornerback Martel Jackson, wide receiver Adonis Moise and defensive end Dalton Knapp. Interestingly, Schilke is the seventh commitment from the fifth different state.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking (a combination of all four recruiting services), the rising senior No. 1232 player in the country and No. 9 player in Nebraska.
