Ivey League: Caden Prieskorn isn’t just Ole Miss’ star tight end. He’s also a dad.

Ivey League: Caden Prieskorn isn’t just Ole Miss’ star tight end. He’s also a dad.

Caden Prieskorn is a veteran of Father’s Day at this point.

He and his wife, Cali, have two children together: Mac, a boy, and Romy, a girl. He doesn’t expect any surprises come Sunday. Actually, if Prieskorn, Ole Miss’ star tight end, could design his perfect holiday, he’d probably choose an afternoon on the couch watching the U.S. Open.

Former Ole Miss golfer Jackson Suber was the last player named to the field — as an alternate. Suber (24) is in his first major championship and third-ever PGA Tour event. He shot a first-round 69 (-1) to tie for ninth place.

Suber will tee off again Friday at 6:51 a.m. CT.

“The U.S. Open’s on this weekend,” Prieskorn said. He’s the latest guest in the ‘Ivey League,’ a podcast powered by RiverLand Roofing, exclusive to the Ole Miss Spirit, and hosted by star Rebel defender Jared Ivey.

“I really want to watch that. I like to just chill.”

Prieskorn lost his own father during the 2023 season, his first with Ole Miss.

Prieskorn was excused from the team in October.

His father, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Prieskorn, succumbed to colon cancer at just 52. Caden Prieskorn transferred to Ole Miss from Memphis in the off-season.

“He’s a wonderful kid,” now-fifth-year Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said at the time. “Obviously a horrible thing to have to go through. It’s unimaginable.

“I just really appreciate how (Caden) still tries to help people (and) be a positive influence around here. He was going through this for a while.”

Prieskorn battled injuries last season but still appeared in 10 games.

He didn’t debut until Week 4 against Alabama. Ole Miss went on to win a program-record 11 games.

Prieskorn had 30 receptions for 449 yards and four touchdowns, and he ended the year on a hot streak. Prieskorn combined for 10 receptions, 107 yards and two touchdowns in back-to-back games to close the regular season.

Even more, the ‘Dad of Ole Miss Football’ saved his best for last in being named Peach Bowl MVP. He had 10 receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns in a dominant Rebel win over similarly-ranked Penn State.

Prieskorn is the No. 7 highest-graded returning tight end in college football, according to Pro Football Focus. Dae’Quon Wright — an off-season transfer addition from Virginia Tech — is No. 4.

“I feel like summer workouts are going really well,” Prieskorn said. Ole Miss opens its highly-anticipated 2024-25 campaign against Furman on August 31 at 6 p.m. CT.

“Finally being healthy. That kind of hurt me last year — right before the season, having a broken foot. Just trying to stay healthy and get my body right. The workouts are going good. Our team’s coming together real well.

“I can’t wait.”
