Hawkeyes offer 2026 QB Cash Herrera
Class of 2026 quarterback Cash Herrera has earned a new scholarship offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound San Diego native announced the opportunity after working with the Iowa offensive coordinator Tim Lester at the Hawkeyes’ one day camp on Thursday.
“It was awesome when Coach Lester told me,” said Herrera. “The coaching staff and players are great and very enjoyable to talk to and be around.”
As a sophomore, Herrera showed great playmaking ability for the Bishops School, completing 64.4% of his passes for 2,647 yards and 31 touchdowns. That type of production led to a wide range of Division I interest, including some from the Hawkeyes who evaluated him in person this spring.
“I first met Coach Lester when he came to watch me throw in San Diego with George Whitfield,” Herrera said.
That eventually led to a camp invite, which brought Herrera to Iowa City this week for his first visit to the Hawkeye State.
“First time in Iowa,” said Herrera. “I thought it was beautiful. The vibes of the city were great and made it a fun place to be.”
Overall, Iowa is offer No. 6 for Herrera as the Hawkeyes join Virginia Tech, Washington State, Colorado State, Appalachian State, and San Diego State on his early list of suitors.
“The offers all started to roll in at once,” Herrera said. “It’s been a blessing.”
Up next for the Class of 2026 prospect is a visit to Ohio State this week.
