You ask, IT answers: Over/Under on number of 5-stars Texas will sign

With recruiting heating up the star-gazers are coming out in full force at IT. Telescope in hand, they’ve jumped in their RV and driven to desolate locations hoping to put their eyes on a constellation of Texas commitments. Most are probably even eating a Milky Way as I type this.

This is where star gazers are in the right, because stars, in aggregate, do matter. Their main issue is they don’t understand through good evaluation it’s not all that difficult to find three-star outliers with futures as bright as the North Star.

With good recruiting comes improved chances for landing five-stars. In the 2025 class, Texas is credibly in the mix for more five-stars than I can recall.

Let’s take a look a those options then assign a useful O/U.

Dakorien Moore, WR, Duncanville (Texas)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 3

He’s a 5-star+ meaning he’s a five-star in every network.

Jonah Williams, S, Galveston (Texas) Ball
On3 IR: No. 11

Only On3 doesn’t have him as a five-star, though they have him as the No. 33 player.

Michael Fasusi, OT, Lewisville (Texas)
On3 IR: No. 12

Again, only On3 doesn’t have him as a five-star, though they have him as the No. 32 player.

Kaliq Lockett, WR, Sachse (Texas)
On3 IR: No. 18

Jaime Ffrench, WR, Jacksonville (Fla) Mandarin
On3 IR: No. 19

Michael Terry, ATH, San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights
On3 IR: No. 21

Dorian Brew, CB, Conroe (Texas)
On3 IR: No. 29

The question posed, was: “Over under 4.5 five-stars this cycle? Granted Lance Jackson is very close. Riley Pettijohn is too.”

Lance Jackson should be a five-star!

I have RPM’s for Texas to land Dakorien Moore, Michael Fasusi, and Michael Terry. Justin Wells put one in for Jaime Ffrench and a number of people followed suit, including Steve Wiltfong. Wiltfong also has one in for Kaliq Lockett.

Riley Pettijohn is only one spot away from being a five-star. His problem is, if he commits to Texas, he’ll find himself further away from five-star status. I kid. Wells again led early on a Pettijohn prediction and Fong has one in as well.

Then you have cornerback Dijon Lee who Texas may work to flip later in the cycle.

No matter how confident we feel individually on the three receivers, it’s still going to be tough to get all three. That’s where probabilities rear their head.

The latest movement with Terry certainly helps UT’s five-star standing.

I think 4.5 is a fair O/U. I’d probably guess Texas will sign five five-stars as of now but that assumes 100% accuracy in the current RPMs. Of course, it could all change with alterations in rankings or if Texas gets hot or goes cold.
