SMU hosting 2025 DL for official visit
SMU is hosting 2025 Houma (La.) H.L. Bourgeois defensive lineman Tyron Winslow for an official visit, which began on Monday.
SMU defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux was first to offer a Power Five scholarship for the 6-5, 270-pounder. He’s continued to recruit Winslow, who also plans Houston and UTSA official visits.
“He’s a cool dude. I know he’s one of those old school coaches,” Winslow said. “He’s up in your face, yelling at you. He’s going to get on you, not going to sugar coat anything. I like the old school coaches because my head coach is one of the old school coaches. I’m trying to get a feel for the campus, see how it is up there.”
SMU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over Houston while programs like Missouri, Troy and others have also offered. The Mustangs offered Winslow in January and are looking to load up in the trenches from the high school ranks.
Thibodeaux has two defensive line commits so far with a pair of Peach State prospects, Jalen Shivers and Kamron Cullins, committed in the class. Both took official visits last weekend.
With 11 commitments, SMU sits with the 30th-best class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Rhett Lashlee’s staff has the sixth-ranked class in the ACC for 2025 so far.
