Trend Meter: SMU trending for multiple targets
SMU Football is coming off hosting numerous official visitors this past weekend and the Mustangs are now trending for multiple recruits. Here’s the rundown on some prospects the Mustangs are after and where things stand.
3-star LB Mark Iheanachor: SMU knocked this visit out of the park is what we’re gathering and the California linebacker is set to announce a decision on July 1. He’s still got official visits to Oklahoma and Washington to come, but the Mustangs are setting the pace here as of now. Linebackers coach Maurice Crum has done a good job keeping in constant contact here and as of now, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if the Mustangs won out.

4-star EDGE Chinedu Onyeagoro: Same goes with Onyeagoro, who also announces July. EDGE rushers coach Sam Dunnam and Crum have pushed hard here as well. Iheanachor and Onyeagoro are childhood friends and playing together is an opportunity they both covet. He has an official visit set for Washington as well and the Huskies could be SMU’s biggest threat here as well. He notched 21 sacks as a junior so that on-field production is something the Mustangs would love to bring to the Hilltop.

3-star CB Kobi Foreman: We’ve had a longtime On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick in for Foreman to land at SMU. Following the weekend, we feel SMU’s only strengthened its position. Cornerbacks coach Rickey Hunley continues to do a good job here and the staff is having to hold on as he takes other visits, but we expect him to land in the class, from what we hear.

4-star OT Lamont Rogers: We had Rogers in our latest class predictions piece, but we did note that we’ve seen this recruitment take some interesting turns. Missouri is the team with a lot of buzz, but he also just visited Texas A&M and the Aggies feel solid they gave him a lot to think about. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up, but SMU’s momentum it appears has been cut down a bit. We’re not ready to call this one over, but the ebbs and flows here are prominent once again.

EDGE Connor Vasek: SMU went into the weekend with the Austin (Tex.) Westlake standout loving what Dunnam and the staff have sold him on. Vasek told On3 that the staff wants to see his first few games of senior season tape since he’s not had a complete season since his freshman year. If SMU presses, they can nab a commitment from Vasek, but right now, it’s wait-and-see mode for the Mustangs. He’s got programs like Air Force, Louisiana and UTSA in the mix.
