A 4-star quarterback every Miami fan needs to know in the 2026 class: “They’re one of my top schools”

Miami’s 2025 one-man quarterback class is all but finalized with four-star gunslinger Luke Nickel firmly committed to the Hurricanes, so as the recruiting staff begins focusing more intensely on 2026 quarterbacks, there’s a name every Miami fan needs to know.

Indialantic (Fla.) Cocoa four-star quarterback Brady Hart has developed into one of the Hurricanes’ top quarterback targets next cycle and has the Hurricanes as one of his top schools, the No. 91 overall prospect and No. 9 quarterback in the On3 Industry Ranking told CaneSport. Hart has felt prioritized by Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and visited Coral Gables twice this spring, although he visited Tennessee and Clemson so far this summer and has LSU June 10, Michigan June 15 and Ohio State June 17.

The 6-foot-5, 185-pound prospect said he may try to squeeze in another trip to Miami just before the July dead period, although he doesn’t feel a pressing need to return this summer after visiting in January and April. Hart said he has a “really good” feel of Miami’s staff, environment and locker room culture and thinks the Hurricanes “have something special there.”

“Coach Dawson is awesome,” Hart said. “I like him a lot. We have a really good relationship. I’ve known him for a while now. He does a great job staying in touch. We definitely connected for sure. And then coach (Mario) Cristobal too, I’ve talked to him a fair share of times. He definitely has a good program rolling down there in Miami. …They’re one of my top schools.”

Dawson has built a close, personal relationship with Hart and has been a large reason for his interest in the Hurricanes. Hart said he felt like Dawson had a genuine relationship with each of his quarterbacks during his two visits and feels he cares for each player as a person, and he wants to maintain their strong connection heading into the fall. Hart said he “loves” the way Dawson runs the quarterback room and thinks “there’s no quarterback room like it.”

Dawson isn’t yet able to directly call or text Hart due to restrictions on how college coaches can contact 2026 prospects, but Hart makes sure to call Dawson regularly and maintain their relationship. Michigan, Penn State, LSU, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas A&M and Florida State are also in the mix.

Hart said Miami’s open offense, ability to recruit top talent at different positions and ability to win has spurred his interest in the Hurricanes. He plans to announce a decision after his junior season. Hart initially hoped to commit by mid-summer, but he’s now looking to pull the trigger around the end of the calendar year.

“I’m letting everything play out,” Hart said. “I’m checking a couple more schools out and just not rushing it. I’m just committing when the time feels right.”

CaneSport’s Take

We’ve written plenty about Dia Bell in next year’s quarterback class, but I’ll be keeping a particularly close eye on Hart moving forward. The Hurricanes have pushed hard for him over the past few months, and things are heating up between the two sides. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t return to Miami once or twice this year.
