‘It’s just Ole Miss now’: Latest with longtime Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight after dominant OT7 Finals performance
George County (Miss.) quarterback and Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight left zero doubt at this weekend’s OT7 Finals in Tampa, Fla., earning On3 MVP honors. The four-star prospect put on a show and led Coastline Stars to the championship game. Afterwards, OMSpirit caught up with him to discuss the latest with his recruitment.
The 6-foot-5, 208 pound recruit remains solid with his pledge to the Irish, but Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss are starting to circle the proverbial wagons for a late push heading into the fall.
“I just keep talking to them. They don’t really talk much about OV plans or anything,” Knight said. “They just keep the line of communication open, they just stay with me. Ole Miss isn’t far so I can get up there whenever I want.”

Keelon Russell was another top target for Ole Miss. And Alabama targeted Deuce Knight, too. Things have changed.
“Now that Keelon flipped to Alabama, they’re out. It’s just ole miss now,” Knight said. “Especially since he flipped.”
Ole Miss remains vigilant in its pursuit of a flip of the 54th overall prospect in the country. And it starts at the top.
“Coach Kiffin hit me up yesterday and last night,” Knight said. KB (Kelvin Bolden) is KB he’s on the trail hard. He loves the Mississippi guys since he’s from the Sip and wants to represent the home state with the best.”
On3’s Charles Power was on hand to see the MVP performance. He was enthralled with Deuce Knight’s showing.
“The 6-foot-4.5, 208-pounder made an array of impressive throws over the final two days of action and seemed to get better each day. Knight’s arm strength stood out. He pushed the ball vertically and threw with velocity to the boundary and into tight windows over the middle of the field,” Power said. “While he had two interceptions in the title game, his location and decision-making was among the best on hand over the course of the event.
“By the end of Sunday, he was consistently getting to his third or fourth read and delivered with general accuracy. We also got a few glimpses of his athleticism as he turned on the jets for some long gains when blitzed,” Power said. “While the event was not loaded with other top arms, Knight’s showing has to be taken as a positive has he heads into the Elite 11 Finals and his senior season at Lucedale (Miss.) Greene County. The Irish pledge ranks as the No. 54 overall prospect in the 2025 On300.“
