Lettermen Row Recruiting Notebook: Setting the stage for the second week of summer camps at Ohio State
COLUMBUS — Ohio State has two more one-day prospect camps this week, the first is Tuesday, June 11 and that will be the first day of the 2026 quarterback sweepstakes at Ohio State. Four-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage quarterback Dia Bell and San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine quarterback Brady Palmer have both confirmed with Lettermen Row that they plan to camp on Tuesday. Ohio State has already offered both.
Ohio State quarterback Tavien St. Clair will also be on campus on Tuesday to spend time around the aforementioned Bell. St. Clair and Bell started developing a friendship this offseason and St. Clair told Lettermen Row last week that he wanted to be at camp whatever day Bell expected to throw at.
– The Buckeyes are also set to host their first high school 7-on-7 camp of the summer on Wednesday, June 12. There will be 16 teams in action, mostly from around the state of Ohio, and the two most notable teams that will be in action are Canton (Ohio) McKinley led by four-star Missouri linebacker commit Dante McClellan and Westerville North which is home to three-star Louisville offensive line commit Jake Cook. Ohio State has shown interest in both this offseason but Cook is the more likely prospect to land an offer after a strong camp performance last. It is a 7-on-7 camp so there is no need for Cook to make the trip with his team but sources tell Lettermen Row that he has been invited to camp to work with offensive line coach Justin Frye on center-specific stuff. Cook and his family are still contemplating whether to make the trip.
Middletown (Del.) and Potomac (Md.) The Bullis School are the two notable out-of-state teams that are scheduled to compete at Wednesday’s 7-on-7 camp. Middletown is led by 2026 three-star running back Amare Glover who will also work at Tuesday’s prospect camp and is on the radar for running backs coach Carlos Locklyn. The Bullis School, on the other hand, does not have any ranked prospects but they are one of the top programs in Maryland.
– Finally, Ohio State has a second one-day prospect camp this week on Thursday, June 13 and the headliner that day will be four-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep running back Derrek Cooper who committed to Georgia last week. Despite his commitment to the Bulldogs, Cooper tells Lettermen Row that he still plans to make the trip to Ohio State on Thursday and work out for Carlos Locklyn.
– Three-star Cleveland (Ohio) Gilmour Academy tight end Brody Lennon will also likely camp on the 13th, he tells Lettermen Row. Lennon was originally expected to camp last week but had to change his schedule. He has the potential to be the Buckeyes’ second tight end in the class.
– Another prospect that will likely camp this week is four-star Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban four-star cornerback Elbert Hill. Hill’s father, Elbert Hill III, told Lettermen Row last week that they will likely camp on the 11th or 13th. Hill was in Tampa last week for the OT7 Championships where he played for South Florida Express alongside Ohio State commitments Devin Sanchez and DeShawn Stewart.
