4-star Mississippi LB Tyler Lockhart on Auburn commitment: ‘I think I made the right decision’
AUBURN – Tyler Lockhart, a 4-star Auburn linebacker commit, officially visited Auburn over the weekend. It was his first trip back since committing to Auburn in May.
“Great people here, it’s a good program and I think it fits me,” he said. “I feel great, I think I made the right decision.”
Lockhart is the No. 141 overall player in the class of 2025, the No. 15 linebacker, and the No. 6 player in the state of Mississippi according to the On3 rankings.
One other official visit
Lockhart, who is a man of few words, was pleased with what he saw on his Auburn visit.
“Good, great visit, I liked what I saw,” he said.
Nothing has changed about Auburn’s message since he has committed.
“It was really good, kind of the same message as before,” Lockhart said.
Lockhart’s main point of contact is Auburn defensive coordinator DJ Durkin. He has a high opinion of Durkin.
“Coach Durkin, he’s a great coach, I like him,” Lockhart said. “He wants me to play inside.”
Lockhart has one other visit set up and is not really considering any others.
“Not really, I will be taking an official visit to Mississippi State,” he said.
Does the in-state school have a chance to push Auburn for Lockhart’s commitment?
“I like it here better than State,” he said.
Lockhart is close with Auburn 5-star receiver target Caleb Cunningham. What is Lockhart’s message to him?
“I’m telling him to come on,” Lockhart said.
Lockhart also confirmed he will be at Big Cat Weekend as well.
