Braden Montgomery joins victory celebration as Texas A&M advances to College World Series
The Texas A&M Aggies punched their tickets to Omaha on Sunday, advancing to the College World Series after rallying past the Oregon Ducks. Their tickets were punched thanks in large part, to a monster seventh inning. The Aggies were trailing the Ducks 7-4 coming into the seventh, and that’s when the wheels fell completely off for the Oregon pitching staff. They proceeded to walk in five runs, before making a pitching change. Then with the bases juiced, Kaeden Kent completely broke the game open with a grand slam to give the Aggies a 13-8 lead.
Texas A&M would finish the comeback off 15-9, much to the delight of their home crowd. Once they punched their tickets to Omaha, the Aggies celebrated on their field in Blue Bell Park. And they didn’t hesitate to make sure their injured star, Braden Montgomery, joined in on the fun.
It marks the eighth appearance in in the College World Series for Texas A&M. Oregon was trying to force a Game 3 in their Super Regional Series, but after losing on Sunday evening, their 2024 campaign is officially over.

Once the smoke had cleared in the top of the seventh inning, the Texas A&M Aggies had put up nine runs. They entered the seventh inning trailing by four, and they finished leading by five. The monster inning effectively ensured there would be no Game 3 in the Super Regional Series, slamming the door shut for a Texas A&M 2-0 sweep of the Ducks.
Kaeden Kent actually replaced Braden Montgomery in the lineup on Saturday, after Montgomery suffered a broken ankle sliding into home plate. And in a twist of irony, Kent delivered a pivotal blast for the Aggies on Sunday.
Texas A&M wasn’t finished there even with all the damage they’d done in the seventh inning. They continued to pile it on and hammer the Ducks’ pitching staff. Hayden Schott blasted a two-run home run to left field to put the Aggies up 15-8 in the top of the eighth inning. He’s played the Super Regional through a knee injury and continues to remain red hot at the plate.
Oregon’s Dominic Hellman countered in the eighth, hitting a solo shot to make it 15-9.
Texas A&M punched their tickets to Omaha, but they’ll have to worry about the injury status of pitcher Shane Sdao, who left the game early with an injury. He was seen biting his jersey and walking off the field looking at his elbow, before he eventually came out of the game. Sdao is one of the top left-handed pitchers in the 2025 college baseball class.
