Gamecocks on top for Georgia LB
AJ Holloway took his second official visit of the process this weekend, checking out Shane Beamer’s Gamecock football program in Columbia.
The Buford (Georgia) defender saw enough for him to place South Carolina number one on his list afterward.
“This is my top one,” he said. “This was one of my favorite visits so far. It was fun.”
Holloway spent time this weekend with Gamecocks linebacker Ronnie Porter, who served as his player-host and showed him a good time in Columbia.

“I got to see where I would play at, got to see the campus and campus life, all that,” said Holloway. “He just showed me the ropes, how living life as a college player would be like. I just learned from him this whole weekend.”
During his conversations with Clayton White, the Peach State product got a better sense of how he could be utilized in the Gamecocks’ defensive scheme.
“They really say that I can move around a lot too.,” Holloway described. “MIKE, WILL SAM, all that. I just want to move around a little bit. I love it. It’s really similar to my high school defensive scheme, too. I feel really good about it.”
A sit-down conversation in Shane Beamer’s office was also in order during the trip.
Said Holloway: “He expressed that he really wanted me to be here. He talked about it with my family and all that. He enjoyed having me here. I enjoyed coming down here too. Everybody in my family said the same thing.”
Holloway previously visited Louisville and has a trip booked to Georgia Tech next weekend. An official visit to Kansas is also possible after that.
It looks like he’s moving closer and closer to a decision.
“Probably in the next week,” he said.
