Michigan a top school for On300 OL Ziyare Addison after extending offer

Michigan dipped down into the state of Florida and extended an offer to On300 2025 Tampa (Fla.) Sumner offensive tackle Ziyare Addison during the contact period last month.

Addison was both surprised and excited when he got the call about the scholarship.

“It means a lot to me,” Addison said. “It proves that I’m one of the best recruits in the country. They are the national champs. It’s big for me and the program since we’re only a five-year program. They develop linemen every year. They do a great job with their program.”

Addison listed Michigan in his Top 9 soon after receiving the offer. While Michigan is new to the mix, the offensive line production immediately caught his attention.

“That’s big time,” Addison said. “That’s why I put them in the Top 9. Their track record of developing offensive linemen is proven. They are also competing for national championships every year.”

Addison added that he watched Michigan closely during its run to the national championship last season.

“I enjoyed watching them because they ran the damn ball,” Addison said. “As an offensive lineman, you want a team to run the ball. That’s really what they did. It was a fun to watch. It was also great because Michigan is a different team than we’re used to winning it all.”

Both Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome have been in contact with Addison.

“I know that Coach Newsome played offensive line at Michigan,” Addison said. “Coach Moore was the former offensive line coach and is now the head coach. That’s very intriguing. They could be key in my development. They said they really like me and want me to come up this summer.”

Addison has yet to schedule an official visit with Michigan, but he is hoping to get to Ann Arbor soon.

“I just want to build a better relationship with the coaches and talk ball with them,” Addison said. “I know the facilities are going to be nice, but I just want to get around the coaches in person.”

Addison has made official visits to Florida and Oregon. He is also scheduled to see Florida State and Penn State this month.

At 6-foot-4, 280 pounds, Addison is ranked as the No. 15 offensive tackle and No. 179 overall prospect in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 26 overall recruit in the state of Florida this cycle.
