A late addition has been made to the Alabama June 7-9 official visitors list.
UA VISITOR CENTRAL: Intel, Notes, Live Discussion
BamaOnLine can confirm that Notre Dame commitment Ivan Taylor will take an official visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend. Taylor is the No. 59 overall prospect in this recruiting cycle, as well as the No. 7 safety and the No. 8 recruit in the state of Florida. He has been a Fighting Irish commitment since December.
Taylor will be accompanied by his parents on this visit. He is the son of Ike Taylor, a former NFL player and two-time Super Bowl champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In a recent conversation with BOL, Taylor says he has been communicating with Bama safeties coach Colin Hitschler.
“I’ve talked with them,” Taylor recently told BOL. “I talked with Coach Hitsch. Talk with Alabama about once a week… he asks how my day was, I ask him how his day was. Just little things like that.”
There is a prior relationship here between Hitschler and Taylor.
Hitschler extended an offer to Taylor last August while he was on Wisconsin’s staff. That relationship has carried over to Alabama, and Hitschler is thought of highly by the talented defensive back.
“He’s a great person,” Taylor said of Hitschler. “Great to talk with. I think we’ve had some great conversations with Coach Hitsch. Talked with him before he went to Bama, when he was at Wisconsin. I talked with him a lot. It’s been very mutual.
“He’s good people. Good being around.”

Hitschler also made his way down to West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida, to see Taylor during the spring evaluation period a few weeks ago.
“He liked the way I practiced. Said I was hard working in practice,” Taylor said. “He likes my IQ and where I stand at on things. Being an instinctive player.”
As a junior, Taylor recorded 50 tackles, six for loss, one interception and also three forced fumbles. He has a total of 135 tackles and 5 interceptions during his high school career.
