Newsstand: Notre Dame great Manti Te’o being considered for NFL Network job

Take a poll of Notre Dame fans asking if they’d like to see more of Notre Dame great Manti Te’o on their television screens, and most of the responses would be yes. Absolutely. Unimously positive, perhaps.

Good news for the supporters: it might actually be happening.

Te’o is being considered as a replacement for Jason McCourty on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” show, which will be based in Los Angeles starting this year. It was previously based in New York. The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand linked Te’o and Akbar Gbajabiamila as candidates to sit on the panel alongside host Jamie Erdahl.

Te’o got some air time on NBC in 2022 as part of the network’s broadcast of the Fighting Irish’s home game against Cal in September of that year. Te’o made an emotional return to South Bend for one of the first times since he was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2012, a year in which he led the Irish to a 12-0 record and a spot in the national championship game against Alabama.

Te’o was one of the best to ever do it in a Notre Dame uniform. He’s on the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame ballot for totaling 437 tackles, 34.0 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and 7 interceptions in four years with the Irish.

Riley Leonard is a serious 2025 NFL Draft prospect, even if the first few months of his time in South Bend were spent rehabbing a nagging ankle injury that required two surgical procedures.
