Lake Mary 2026 QB Noah Grubbs talks Miami Hurricanes offer: “This was exciting”
Lake Mary (Fla.) 2026 quarterback Noah Grubbs, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound high school freshman with offers from programs including Texas A&M, UCF and Virginia Tech, had been hoping for a Miami offer when offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson reached out following a recent school visit.
So he was immediately excited when the Hurricanes became the second Florida school to offer him.
Dawson stopped at Lake Mary last week to watch Grubbs throw live during an evaluation visit and was immediately impressed enough by his arm strength to offer the 2026 quarterback, who now holds half a dozen FBS offers and is continuing to gain interest from programs like Alabama, LSU, Florida and Notre Dame, who he said have already reached out.
“This was exciting for myself because it’s my second Florida school offer, and this is my QB trainers favorite school as a fan,” Grubbs said. “So it meant a lot to impress Coach Dawson, who has such a big reputation for developing quarterbacks. My initial thoughts on the Hurricanes are their championship traditions. They have the most national titles of all the Florida schools and send a lot of athletes to the NFL, so it’s pretty much every kids dream school in my opinion from the state of Florida.”
Grubbs said Miami will be “one of the schools at the top of the list” and wants to make a trip to Coral Gables to see the campus “to make sure I fit in.”
“I know it’s a real small private school in the middle of arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world in Coral Gables, and I love what coach Cristobal is doing, changing the culture to what it once was,” Grubbs said. “I know the weight of this offer and it motivates me to continue playing and training to that standard.”
He said he’s finalizing his camp schedule but plans on visiting Miami this summer either at a camp or for an unofficial visit. He added he plans on attending summer camps of most schools that have reached out, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Nebraska, Pitt and Wake Forest in addition to Alabama, LSU, Florida and Notre Dame.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists UCF and Virginia Tech as Grubbs’ early frontrunners with a 48.6% chance and a 42.5% chance, respectively.
Ultimately, Grubbs said his recruitment will come down to relationships.
“It’s much bigger than football,” Grubbs said. “Who is going to develop me as a student athlete, both on and off the field. Also, I want the ability to come in and compete. Whatever school I choose, I plan on enrolling early.”
CaneSport’s Take
Grubbs’ size and arm talent all but guarantee he’ll be an eye-catching recruit by the time the 2026 class comes into the spotlight, and offering him was worthwhile to continue establishing Miami’s reputation as a program every recruit in Florida needs to consider.
