FSU official visit could bring clarity to South Florida safety Max Redmon

South Florida safety Max Redmon is no stranger to Florida State’s campus, having visited multiple times. But his official visit this weekend could be Redmon’s most important visit yet.

According to On3, Redmon is a top-150 player in Florida and a top-100 safety in the 2025 class. Florida State has been in pursuit of the three-star prospect for quite some time, since the Seminoles became the first major in-state school to offer him nearly a year ago.

“They’ve just been real from day one, welcoming me and my family,” Redmon said. “And the whole coaching staff, players … it’s hard to get higher than that.”

Florida State has been trending for the 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back for about a month now, since On3 Vice President of Recruiting and Transfer Portal Steve Wiltfong put in an RPM pick in favor of the Seminoles.

While FSU is the perceived leader for the West Palm Beach product, Redmon wants to wait until after his official visits to make a final decision.

“FSU is one of my top schools, obviously,” he told Warchant. “But I’ll see where they stand after the OVs when I’m ready to commit.”

While the Cardinal Newman standout has been to Tallahassee several times, there are still a few aspects of Florida State he is hoping to learn more about.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how school life is and look more into the student perspective,” Redmon said. “Definitely want to see more of the rehabbing and training facility, and how they take care of the player’s body.”

In anticipation for his official visit, Redmon has been speaking with Florida State head coach Mike Norvell, and Redmon once again raved about the Seminoles’ leader.

“Coach Norvell is an amazing person,” Redmon said. “He loves what he does, and you can never catch him in a bad mood. He’s going to yell and get on you, but it’s all for the better. He’s just excited for me to get back up there and meet the family.”

FSU defensive backs coach Pat Surtain Sr. has taken a similar approach.

“Nothing out of the ordinary, just that if I do decide to go there, I work hard, play hard, and go even harder in the classroom,” Redmon said.

After his official visit to Florida State this coming weekend, Redmon has officials planned for Illinois on June 14 and USF on June 21.
