Fast-Rising DL Jayden-Jamal Hanne Talks Oregon Offer

Oregon is looking to load up with more big bodies on its defensive line in the 2025 class, but there isn’t a laundry list of big names to choose from out West this cycle. On Sunday the Ducks extended an offer to one of the more intriguing players in Southern California in Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Catholic defensive lineman Jayden-Jamal Hanne.

#AGTG After a great Camp and conversation with @CoachTuioti92 I am truly blessed and honored to earn a scholarship offer from @oregonfootball #GoDucks @CoachLup @Big_Ursa_ @CoachRouz @Coach_Fifita94 @KTalavou @Molatu76 @GregBiggins @adamgorney @ChadSimmons_ pic.twitter.com/CHmug9IyDY

ScoopDuck caught up with the 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman for the latest in his recruitment.

Defensive line coach Tony Tuioti extended the offer during a camp in Memphis.

“Me and Coach T been knowing each other for a little more than a year. He saw me at practice one time last year and he liked a clip I had. He told me he’s gonna be in touch and then he recently called me and asked me to come to Memphis to work out there, he was gonna be there. So I went, worked out in front of him in front of him. (I) Did a pretty good job I think and got the offer.”

Hanne just turned 17 years old and was born in Berlin, Germany. He moved to California halfway through the football season in 2022 and he looks back on landing an offer from the Ducks a full-circle moment.

“Actually Oregon used to be the school I was watching when I was back home because my brother played football and he was really into Oregon, so I was really interested in Oregon as a kid because my brother was,” he said. “Me and my brothers we were watching the Oregon videos and all that. We found it pretty cool, now actually having the offer is a great feeling. I could share that with my family overseas. We called my family and talked. It’s just great.”

He’s still learning about the Ducks, but he knows they play some good football in Eugene.

“I know they’re a big-time program. They create big-time players and their coaching staff is great.”

The rising defensive lineman has never been to Oregon but is hoping to get up to Eugene some time soon for a visit.

Georgia is one school that he’s considering taking an official visit to, although he doesn’t have any trips scheduled as his recruitment is just starting to boom. Offers from schools like Alabama, Texas A&M and Nebraska have all come within the last month.

“My recruitment has just been blowing up so I don’t really have anything scheduled yet. But probably the next month or so I’ll be scheduling some for the season.”

For someone who’s pretty new to the sport, being recruited to play football by some of the nation’s top programs is a special opportunity.

“It’s definitely been a crazy feeling, almost surreal,” Hanne said of his recruitment taking off. “Just from where I came from, my journey and all that stuff—having all that stuff actually happen, a blessing and something that is hard to realize ’cause it’s so incredible.”

Oregon has recruited players with international roots before and Hanne gave some background on his football journey.

“I lived in Germany my whole life and I left my family when I just turned 15 in 2022 in the middle of the football season. That’s where I started to play football really. I barely played JV, so I just learned the game and then worked my butt off for the last year and a half, now I’m here.”

Don’t expect a decision from him any time soon.

“I really don’t know how this really works. I have to see, maybe December, after the season, end of the season, somewhere around that time.”

With visits likely on the horizon over the next few months, he’s prioritizing a few things during his recruitment.

“The biggest thing is the family aspect. I want to be a part of a family. That’s really the biggest thing to me because growing up all I had was my Mom and my brothers, so family is really big to me. I want to be a part of a big family—people that I can actually call family. I want a coaching staff that coaches me hard but believes in me.”
