Auburn Football Recruiting Hot Board: Defense

Auburn Football Recruiting Hot Board: Defense

Auburn has 11 high school commitments in its 2025 recruiting class with six projected to play on defense.

Needless to say, there is still plenty of work to be done before the early signing period begins in December.

What is left for Auburn on defense in the 2024 class? Who are the top recruits at each position and what are Auburn’s chances with each?

The Hot Board has the answers.

Below are the recruits I believe are the top targets at each position and my guesses at Auburn’s chances of signing them. Keep in mind, the percentages are Auburn’s chances against the field.

Defensive line (4-5)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentJourdin Crawford (4)Birmingham, Ala.–AUAUMalik Autry (4)Opelika, Ala.–AUAUKalen Edwards (4)Dyersburg, Tenn.5/3135%45%Antonio Coleman (4)Saraland, Ala.–ALA/35%ALA/35%Javeon Campbell (4)Frankfort, Ky.6/1030%30%Zavion Hardy (4)EMCC (JUCO)–20%20%Andrew Maddox (4)Hattiesburg, Miss.–20%20%Jeramiah McCloud (3)Havana, Fla.–UF/15%UF/15%Nate Marshall (4)Oak Park, Ill.–MICH/5%MICH/5%

Auburn has two committed and is looking for at least two more. Edwards, who de-committed from Auburn after Jeremy Garrett left for the NFL, is one to keep a close eye on this weekend.

Buck linebacker (2)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentHerbert Scroggins (3)Savannah, Ga.9/660%60%Zion Grady (4)Enterprise, Ala.6/1040%40%Isaiah Gibson (4)Warner Robins, Ga.6/10USC/30%USC/30%Jared Smith (4)Alabaster, Ala.–20%20%Christian Gass (4)Covington, Ga.–15%15%C.J. May (4)Highland Home, Ala.–15%15%

Auburn appears to be the team to beat for Scroggins and could make a move on others in June. Gibson and Grady both are set to visit the second weekend.

Linebackers (2-3)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentJakaleb Faulk (4)Highland Home, Ala.–AUAUTyler Lockhart (4)Winona, Miss.6/14AUAUElijah Melendez (4)Kissimmee, Fla.5/31MIA/10%MIA/35%Jadon Perlotte (4)Buford, Ga.6/12UGA/30%UGA/30%Darrell Johnson (4)Eastman, Ga.6/14ALA20%ALA/20%Anthony Kruah (3)Marietta, Ga.–NC/15%NC/15%AJ Holloway (3)Buford, Ga.–10%10%

Auburn has two top targets committed and can be selective moving forward. The Tigers would have to flip one of the others as all are committed elsewhere. Melendez is committed to in-state Miami, but the Tigers could have a real shot of flipping him after a visit this weekend.

Cornerbacks (4-5)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentDevin Williams (4)Buford, Ga.6/14AUAUDante Core (3)Fort Walton Beach, Fla.6/14AUAUTimothy Merritt (3)Birmingham, Ala.–50%50%Blake Woodby (4)Baltimore, Md.5/3125%40%Shamar Arnoux (3)Carrollton, Ga.6/1440%40%Donovan Starr (3)Brentwood, Tenn.6/415%25%Na’eem Offord (5)Birmingham, Ala.5/31OSU/15%OSU/20%Chris Ewald (4)Hollywood, Fla.–20%20%

Auburn has two commitments and would like to add at least two more. Woodby will be on campus this weekend. So will Offord. Auburn will try and make moves with both.

Safeties(2-3)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentAnquon Fegans (4)Alabaster, Ala.–55%65%Eric Winters (4)Enterprise, Ala.6/1445%45%Martels Carter (4)Paducah, Ky.–45%UK/20%Tae Harris (4)Cedartown, Ga.–CLEM/20%CLEM/20%Hylton Stubbs (4)Jacksonville, Fla.–USC/20%USC/20%Jontae Gilbert (4)Atlanta, Ga.–15%10%

I think Auburn is the team to beat for Fegans, but has work to do with Winters.
