The stars will be out for Florida Gators’ first official visit weekend

The stars will be out for Florida Gators’ first official visit weekend

With official visit season set to kick into gear, the Florida Gators are gearing up to host over a dozen prospects on May 31-June 2.

Nine of those targets are equipped with four stars, including Florida State EDGE commit Javion Hilson,

Below, Gators Online takes it a step further by highlighting each prospect.

Florida Gators have big opportunity ahead with key targets

4-star EDGE Javion Hilson, Cocoa (Fla.) High — FLORIDA STATE COMMIT
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 40 prospect | No. 4 EDGE | No. 6 prospect in Florida
Notes: Hilson recently labeled the Florida Gators his No. 3 option behind Texas and then obviously the Seminoles. The Gators likely have significant ground to make up though. A very strong impression is needed this weekend if Florida wants to have any shot at flipping him.

4-star DL Myron Charles, Port Charlotte (Fla.) High
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 124 prospect | No. 9 defensive lineman | No. 18 prospect in Florida
Notes: Florida State has a strong lead in this recruitment, although Charles said in the spring the Gators had made up ground in recent months. They received two visits earlier this year and now have the opportunity to set the bar with the first official visit. Florida is pushing hard here.

4-star QB Antwann Hill, Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 199 prospect | No. 15 quarterback | No. 27 prospect in Georgia
Notes: Memphis is trending here due to how hard the Tigers are recruiting Hill. He would have the opportunity to play as a true freshman for the Tigers. As for the Gators, it will be interesting to see how this weekend plays out. They are still on the hunt for a quarterback but not recruiting Hill the hardest right now.

4-star OT Ziyare Addison, Riverview (Fla.) Sumner
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 177 prospect | No. 14 offensive tackle | No. 25 prospect in Florida
Notes: Florida is likely the school with the most momentum right now. That comes after two strong visits in the spring, including one for the Orange and Blue Game. Addison, however, does have a handful of official visits scheduled and recently traveled out to UCLA. He doesn’t seem to be in any rush, but the Gators have been surging as of late.

4-star WR Joshua Moore, Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 197 prospect | No. 26 wide receiver | No. 27 prospect in Florida
Notes: Florida, Florida State, Miami and Georgia make up Moore’s top four, with each of them slated to receive a summer official visit. There is not a whole lot separation at the top, so the Gators have the opportunity to set the bar. At nearly 6-foot-4, Moore boasts the size wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales covets at the position. This is an important visitor.

4-star WR Naeshaun Montgomery, Miami Central
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 237 prospect | No. 34 wide receiver | No. 35 prospect in Florida
Notes: Montgomery raved about his visit in the spring, having been told the Gators want him as the face of the wide receivers class. That was music to his ears. All in all, the communication is good as it gets, especially with Billy Gonzales. Florida, Penn State and Miami are the OVs set for June.

4-star S Jaylan Morgan, Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Rockvale
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 243 prospect | No. 24 safety | No. 5 prospect in Tennessee
Notes: When speaking with GO last weekend, Morgan labeled Florida a top 2-3 option. He has plenty of respect with secondary coach Will Harris and is connecting with him on a personal level. That relationship is key in this recruitment. Georgia and Mississippi State are pushing for Morgan the hardest, but Florida is not far behind that duo.

4-star LB Christian Gass, Covington (Ga.) Eastside
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 274 prospect | No. 30 linebacker | No. 32 prospect in Georgia
Notes: Florida and Tennessee have been the schools pushing the hardest for Gass in recent weeks. Keep a close eye on Georgia as well. For now though, the Gators have as good of a shot at landing Gass as anyone. He is a top priority at linebacker, and that is being backed up by how hard they are recruiting him. A decision in July is expected.

4-star DL Jarquez Carter, Newberry (Fla.) High
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 370 prospect | No. 32 defensive lineman | No. 51 prospect in Florida
Notes: Florida holds a strong lead in the RPM for the local product, but this is a fluid recruitment featuring numerous schools. Florida, Ohio State, UCF and Miami are some of the contenders recruiting Carter the hardest. The Gators have a good shot and much can be credited to the relationship he has with defensive line coach Gerald Chatman. Familiarity with the SEC school is very high.

Multiple Florida commits will be in Gainesville

3-star DL Jeramiah McCloud, Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County — FLORIDA COMMIT
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 410 prospect | No. 36 defensive lineman | No. 60 prospect in Florida
Notes: To our knowledge, McCloud has just one official visit scheduled and it’s obviously with the Gators. We are still keeping tabs on his recruitment though, as the former Mississippi State commit has a strong offer sheet.

3-star TE Micah Jones, Madison (Miss.) Central
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 469 prospect | No. 28 tight end | No. 15 prospect in Mississippi
Notes: Just a few weeks ago, Jones was one of my choices for the Gators’ next commitment. That’s because Florida is his lone official visit and Russ Callaway has been recruiting him for roughly a year. Mutual interest is high ahead of Jones’ fourth trip to the Swamp.

3-star RB Chad Gasper, Fulshear (Texas) Katy Jordan — FLORIDA COMMIT
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 539 prospect | No. 41 running back | No. 84 prospect in Texas
Notes: It’s been nothing but crickets since Gasper made his commitment. The Lone Star State native is locked in with the Gators and will likely have his recruiting cap on throughout the weekend.

3-star TE Tae’shaun Gelsey, Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 625 prospect | No. 34 tight end | No. 79 prospect in Florida
Notes: Earlier this week, I submitted an RPM pick for the Florida Gators to land Gelsey. The Duval County native was just offered last weekend but has visited several times in the past. Those relationships are already strong. The Gators plan on signing two tight ends this cycle, with Gelsey being the most realistic addition as of now.

3-star ATH/S Kaylib Singleton, Fleming Island (Fla.) High
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 1,042 prospect | No. 69 athlete | No. 129 prospect in Florida
Notes: Singleton landed a significant offer from Michigan on Wednesday; however, until a trip to Ann Arbor takes place, you have to continue favoring the Gators. Secondary coach Will Harris has been prioritizing Singleton all year and will likely build on that strong connection this weekend. The in-state product was recently a part of my mock class.

Stay tuned to Gators Online.
