Ohio State CB commit Devin Sanchez recruiting top uncommitted prospect for the Buckeyes
Houston North Shore Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Devin Sanchez continues to headline Ohio State’s top-ranked 2025 recruiting class as the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 1 CB in the cycle.
The 6-foot-2 defensive back pledged to the Buckeyes at the beginning of January and is currently one of six top-100 prospects pledged to Ryan Day, corners coach Tim Walton and Co. Relationships were a major factor for Sanchez when he made his decision — and those relationships have only grown since.
“It’s really not so much the school, it’s relationship I have with Coach Walton. We have a strong relationship, six times I’ve been up there,” Sanchez said on Tuesday at the On3 Elite Series, an educational seminar discussing the new era of NIL and navigating life after football.
“It’s not just Coach Walton. I have a relationship with other coaching staff, Coach (Brian) Hartline, Coach Day, Coach (Gerren) Duhart, I got a relationship with a lot of guys.”
Sanchez has already made multiple trips back to Columbus since committing. He has his official visit lined up for the weekend of June 21 and is also looking to get back another time this summer. The five-star says that Texas corners coach Terry Joseph still reaches out, but Sanchez is locked in with the Buckeyes.
“They really know it’s not a push they can get to flip me,” he said.
Sanchez playing recruiter for the Buckeyes, targeting Dakorien Moore
With Sanchez firm in his pledge, he’s now playing the role of recruiter to try and add even more firepower to OSU’s No. 1 class. At the top of his list is the top-ranked player in Texas who recently came back on the board.
Duncanville Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Dakorien Moore decommitted from LSU earlier this month and is now considering the Buckeyes, as well as Texas and Oregon. Moore is taking his official visit to Columbus this weekend, and Sanchez is making sure that the No. 3 overall prospect in the cycle hears his recruiting pitch.
“Just one competing every day against a group of DBs that don’t want to lose. The work ethic and competing against each other you’re going to be alongside Jeremiah (Smith) and Carnell (Tate) and iron sharpens iron every day,” Sanchez said of his message to Moore.
Sanchez is flanked in the secondary by Five-Star Plus+ CB commit Na’eem Offord, the No. 8 overall recruit and No. 3 corner in the class. The pair sit atop the OSU pledge list, while five-star quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair headlines as a top-20 prospect and top-five signal-caller in the cycle. All three are in attendance at the On3 Elite Series in Nashville.
