Stillwater Super Regional Game 2 between Arizona, Oklahoma State resumes after lightning weather delay

Game 2 of the Stillwater Super Regional of the NCAA Softball Tournament entered a weather delay on Saturday evening after lightning was spotted in the area. Oklahoma State led visitors Arizona, 10-3, at the time of the stoppage.

Because the weather delay is due to lightning, there’s an automatic 30 minute delay for the danger to clear. If more lightning is detected in the area, the 30 minute clock will restart.

The delay began just after 8:35 p.m. EST, meaning the early play can resume is around 9:05 p.m.

Oklahoma State holds a 1-0 lead in the best of three series, a win away from going to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Update: The tarp has come out in Stillwater

After lightning initially delayed proceedings, rain began to move in and the grounds crew covered up the playing field as teams are hunkering down. And it assuredly means the delay is likely to stretch further into the night.

Update: Play has resumed

After a little more than two hours of delay, the Wildcats and Cowboys resumed play at 10:50 p.m. EST, with the Cowboys looking to close out the Super Regional.
