Nebraska making a strong push to get an official visit from CB LaRue Zamorano

Nebraska making a strong push to get an official visit from CB LaRue Zamorano

Los Angeles (Calif.) Centennial cornerback LaRue Zamorano has been in contact with Nebraska for years. It wasn’t until this week that the Huskers finally extended him an offer. The attention from Nebraska has ramped up recently. Still, the relationship with Nebraska and, more specifically, their defensive coordinator goes back to his previous high school when he was a freshman.

“Nebraska came on Monday to see me,” Zamorano said. “Coach Evan Cooper and the defensive coordinator, Tony White, came to see me. Coach White has been recruiting me for a while since I was a freshman at Santa Margarita, and we have known each other for a while.”

A week before Zamorano received the offer from Nebraska, he announced his top seven schools. He says that there are ways for new schools to work their way onto his list, which Nebraska is well on its way to doing.

“I announced a top seven. My top seven were Oregon, Penn State, Washington, Kansas, Michigan State, Arizona, and USC. Nebraska can definitely make its way onto my top school’s list. They are trying to get me to Lincoln for an official visit in June.”

During his official visits, Zamorano said he was looking for program stability. He wants to avoid a revolving door in the coaches’ offices. He is also interested in how a program can develop him.

“On my official visit I am looking for a stable program,” Zamorano said. “I am looking for a program that is going to develop me on and off the field. I am not about the schools where the coaches are bouncing around from one school to another.”

The defensive coaches have told Zamorano that they see him playing cornerback in their secondary. He says that he can play any spot in the secondary the Huskers need him to.

“They see me as a cornerback. I am willing to play any position that they need me to play, but from our conversations, it sounds like they want me to play cornerback for them.”

Zamorano has an official visit set up to Michigan State on May 31, USC on June 7, Kansas on June 14, and Washington on June 21. The official visit to Nebraska will likely have to be mid-week in June.
