Georgia’s reputation catches eye of recently offered DB Ayden Pouncey

Florida State, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M are among the programs already in the mix for 2026 four-star safety Ayden Pouncey of Winter Park, Florida, and the Georgia Bulldogs, too, have recently entered the race for his services.

The offer from the Dawgs caught his eye quickly.

“It felt really good to know probably the best team in the country wants me,” Pouncey said. “They’re definitely one of the top schools (for me).”

There’s still much relationship building to be done, however, as the two sides just recently connected. They’ll seek to strengthen that bond further in short order.

“I went to a spring scrimmage, and they said they loved my film,” Pouncey said. “They kept telling me they want to get me back in the summer, so I set up a date for then. A little bit after that, I got the offer. I will be in Athens June 21.”

While there will be plenty to learn on that trip, Pouncey has already received some insight from his potential positional coach at the next level.

“I spoke with Coach Donte [Williams], and he said he’s gonna develop me to be the best and that Georgia is gonna give me the best opportunities,” Pouncey said.

Williams’ demeanor certainly caught Pouncey’s eye, as well as his ear.

“He’s gonna coach you hard and make you perfect what you’re doing, and he’s gonna keep it real with you,” Pouncey said. “He’ll tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.”

Of course, the reputation behind the Bulldogs proceeds them also. It’s one the rising junior is well versed in already.

“They are known for winning, and their defense is what stands out is, as well as how they can develop DBs,” Pouncey said. “It’s just different how they play, how hard they play, and are coached. It just shows why they win.”
