2025 offensive tackle Ziyare Addison cuts top schools, Ohio State in the mix
COLUMBUS — Ohio State routinely finds itself on top school lists and the Buckeyes have done it once again.
Four-star Tampa (Fla) Sumner offensive tackle Ziyare Addison included Ohio State in his top nine. Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford and UCLA are the other eight programs in contention.
The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Florida native is the No. 182 overall prospect and the No. 14 offensive lineman according to the On3 Industry Rankings. On3 has Addison as the No. 287 overall prospect and the No. 24 offensive tackle.
Where do the Buckeyes stand in this recruitment? Who’s the leader? Lettermen Row breaks it all down.
Ohio State
The Buckeyes are very new to this recruitment, having offered Addison on May 16. But Ohio State is Ohio State. Make no mistake about that.
Addison spoke with our Alex Gleitman about the offer and his interest in Ohio State, which is a big reason why it made the cut.
“Coach Frye came out to my school on Monday,” Addison told Lettermen Row. “He then offered me today. He told me I have an offer and it was all about timing. He said he wants to get me up for an official visit.”
He already has official visits locked in with Florida, Florida State, Oregon and Penn State. Addison is fresh off an official visit to Georgia. That visit to Athens put the Bulldogs into his personal top five, he told On3’s Chad Simmons.
Will the Buckeyes receive an official?
“It’s Ohio State,” he stated. “It’s one of the best programs in the country, period. I have to talk to my family.”
The biggest way for Ohio State to be more than just a hat on the table is if it can get that coveted official visit.
The Field
The two biggest contenders as of now are Georgia and Florida State.
As mentioned, the Bulldogs just hosted Addison for an official visit and he raved about it to multiple insiders within the On3 network. He is a noteworthy quote from Simmons’ story.
“I’m a top guy for them,” Addison said. “That has been their message to me since they offered. Georgia is recruiting me very hard and they want me bad. That is how they made me feel this weekend. They say I have rare feet and they like that and how I am a ball player that works.”
And for the Seminoles, there’s a comfortability there. Addison has visited Tallahassee five times with a sixth trip on the books for the end of June.
Some more insight into Florida State’s position via Warchant‘s Michael Langston.
“[Mike Norvell] told me they are going to do what they are doing now,” Addison said. “He told me they are going to be a 10-plus-win team and turn things around. He has lived up to the expectations and delivered. I was shocked when they beat LSU the first time, but I wasn’t shocked they did it the second time. Everything they have done is legit. Once they did it again, it was legit to me.”
