SEC Media Days is later this summer as Ole Miss starts to check the calendar for the most-anticipated season in program history. One event coinciding with media days is the release of Colby Newton’s book, “SEC Football: How a Regional League Became a National Obsession”.

The Utah native and huge college football fan joins “The Flagship”, presented by College Corner, to tell us all about how he became a fan of the Southeastern Conference, stories he unearthed via research and how the SEC became the power it is today.

Newton traces the roots back to the very beginning and underscores the important achievements along the way that led to the unprecedented success the league now enjoys. Featuring Heisman winners like Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson, iconic coaches like Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban, and significant moments such as the integration of SEC rosters, a momentous lawsuit against the NCAA, conference expansion, and the SEC’s historic contract with CBS, this book covers it all.

Colby Newton is also very familiar with Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.

He talks about the Draper, Utah prospect, how he thinks the 2024 season will go and what the first family of college football did for the Rebels and the SEC. The official slogan for the SEC is “It just means more.” And they are right, says Newton. Listen in as he tells stories about NIck Saban’s intro to the conference, the importance of Johnny Vaught, the legacy of Archie Manning and this year’s team.
