On300 ATH Brandon Finney previews official visits, says two other powerhouse programs are in the mix
Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh School On300 athlete Brandon Finney is looking ahead to his official visits.
The four-star’s travels begin with Penn State on May 31.
“My relationships with the coaches there definitely excites me,” Finney said. “Their high-intensity practices and their player development makes them a great fit.”
After Happy Valley, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Finney will head to South Carolina the weekend of June 7.
“A huge thing for me is my relationship with the coaches and how much they value me and a player and person,” Finney said. “I feel like the coaches at SC embrace that.”
Finney likes the trajectory in Columbia.
“I feel like they’re building a good program that will be at the top of the SEC in a couple years.”
Georgia is on the calendar for the weekend of June 14.
“For UGA I feel like they are a dominant program that will bring the best out of you,” Finney said, adding he has a strong relationship with cornerbacks coach Donte Williams.
Finney will be back at Oregon the weekend of June 21.
“Yeah Oregon, I have a great relationship with the coaches and when I visited I loved it up there,” Finney said. “The spring game environment was amazing.”
Finney could see himself being successful playing for head coach Dan Lanning and his staff.
“They seem very organized, everyone there loves football and with having Nike it helps them a lot,” Finney said.
The On3 Industry tabs Finney as the nation’s No. 12 athlete and No. 310 prospect overall. On3 is higher on Finney slotting him at No. 5 and No. 131 respectively.
Finney talked about what he’s looking for in a school
It’s going to be a tough decision for Finney.
“A great relationship with the coaching staff, knowing that I will be put in a position to succeed with people who want to see me succeed,” Finney said.
There are other programs emerging in the recruitment of Finney as well.
“Ohio State definitely and Michigan,” Finney said. The Buckeyes extended a scholarship on Monday.
“Especially Ohio State. Even though it’s a recent offer I believe that the coaches are genuine and want the best for me.”
Recruited by most schools to play in the secondary Finney had 22 tackles and three interception as a junior. He also caught 51 passes for 632 yards and four touchdowns. He has 10.8 speed in the 100m dash.
