FSU Target To Watch: Georgia tight end Hollis Davidson

As recruiting season heats up this summer, Warchant.com is going to highlight a main Florida State target to watch for the 2025 class each week. And this week’s FSU target to watch is three-star tight end Hollis Davidson.

The 6-foot-6 Georgia product is expected to take an unofficial visit to Florida State this week. The Seminoles have yet to secure a commitment from a tight end in this class, and they’re hoping that changes by making a charge for Davidson.

This is not a new name for FSU as he has been one of the top targets for the ‘Noles for going on two years. Despite his early pledge to Auburn, which Davidson later backed out on, the ‘Noles were able to land a visit in April.

And the Georgia product had high praise for Florida State and tight ends coach Chris Thomsen.

“It was good. I really enjoyed it” Davidson said at the time. “I saw a spring practice and they have got good energy out there. Coach Thomsen, I really like him (and his coaching style).”

Davidson also took a visit to FSU in January and came away impressed.

“It was awesome. I really like this staff and got a chance to see Coach [Mike] Norvell and Coach Thomsen,” he said. “Coach Norvell holds his players to the standard, so I really liked that.”

Davidson now will get more looks at FSU in the coming weeks.

He is scheduled to take an unofficial visit to Florida State this Thursday and then plans to return for an official visit on the June 21 weekend, which is the big recruiting weekend for the Seminoles.

**My thoughts on Davidson & FSU**

I think this recruitment is starting to trend in a good direction for FSU. The ‘Noles were one of the first schools that Hollis visited early in the process, and the staff has been on him since the beginning.

There’s a strong bond with Norvell and Thomsen that looks different compared to other schools in the mix. I do feel he’s going to take a few official visits — he is scheduled to go to UF in early June — however Davidson seems to like what FSU is doing with its tight ends.

The job isn’t finished, but this is a recruitment where you can’t ignore the momentum at this stage for FSU.
