Top 100 EDGE Rodney Dunham excited about new offer from Michigan
Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary recently made a swing through North Carolina and extended an offer to Rodney Dunham.
The Top 100 2026 EDGE out of Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park was excited when the Wolverines jumped in the mix.
“It was pretty crazy,” Dunham said. “They are the reigning national champions. Michigan is a true blue blood program. They are always competing for a national championship. Of course, they have a great coaching staff. I felt honored when they offered.”
Jean-Mary was not allowed to talk to Dunham at his school, due to NCAA rules regarding underclassmen, but the two did catch up later that day.
“I had a chance to talk to Coach Jean-Mary after he offered me,” Dunham said. “We didn’t talk for super long, but he seemed like a really good guy. I want to get to know him more. Honestly, I want to get to know all the coaches. It’s the University of Michigan, so I’m interested in learning more.”
Michigan has obviously put plenty of pass rushers in the NFL over the last several years, which is appealing to an elite EDGE like Dunham.
“I’m impressed,” Dunham said. “You know they are going to produce draft picks every year. If you go there, work and do your job, you are going to get looks. That’s the standard there.”
Dunham added that he was impressed with Michigan’s run to the national title last season.
“I was really impressed,” Dunham said. “They had the top defense in the country. That’s how they roll. I really like how Michigan is such a defensive team and how they can dominate games the way they do.”
The next step for Dunham is making an unofficial visit, which he hopes will happen at some point in the near future.
“I for sure want to make a visit,” Dunham said. “I might make time this summer to go up there. I just want to see Ann Arbor and mainly the school and program. I want to meet the coaches, too.”
Along with Michigan, Dunham holds offers from Auburn, Florida State, Missouri, North Carolina, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wisconsin and others.
At 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, Dunham is ranked as the No. 6 EDGE and No. 69 overall recruit nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect in the state of North Carolina for next cycle.
