Five-Star Plus+ SF AJ Dybantsa updates his recruitment

AJ Dybantsa remains On3’s No. 1 ranked player in the 2025 class. The 6-foot-8 wing is averaging 25.4 points and 5.6 rebounds through five Nike EYBL session games with the Oakland Soldiers program so far this travel ball season..

“I’ve been working on a lot of mid-range work, a lot of mid-post work,” Dybantsa told On3. “Really I’ve continued to work on my shooting. I’m working on less turnovers and being more of a playmaker with my game. I watching a lot of Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander) right now. He is one of the best iso-scorers in the league right now, so I am going to continue to watch his game.”

On3 was able to catch up with Five-Star Plus+ AJ Dybantsa at the EYBL Session two stop in Atlanta to talk recruitment.

“I’ve taken official visits to Auburn and USC,” Dybantsa said. “My visit to USC was with the old staff, and I haven’t gotten an SMU offer.”

“Bruce Pearl is a great coach, and I like how he has built his program. They were the SEC Tournament champions last season, they are a winning program. He told me that I could be like another Jabari Smith if I went there.

“They play fast, and I like to play fast. They shoot a lot of threes and give their guards freedom which will help me grow to the next level.”

“My most recent offers came from Oregon and Arkansas,” Dybantsa said. “I don’t have any other visits set up yet. We hear from UNC, the new Kentucky staff, and some others, too.”

ARKANSAS: “He arguably has a top-five system of all time when it comes to developing pros. He has top-five draft picks. I’m trying to go to the league and he is a great coach who could potentially get me there.”

OREGON: “They’re my most recent offer, so I don’t know much about them yet. My dad and I are going to get on some more calls with them and learn more about the coaches and the program.”

UNC: “I know Hubert Davis talks with my dad a lot, and Sean May too. They all stay in contact. They had a good year this year. They’re a guard/wing-oriented team and that is my position.”

KENTUCKY: “The new Kentucky staff has reached out to me but there is no offer. They told me they’re trying to maintain what Kentucky has had in the past and be a winning program. They’ve been recruiting some players and they’re trying to be a winning program in their first year.”

“These are the most recent schools that I would say I’ve heard from,” Dybantsa said.

Recruiting, in his words.

“Development will be a big part of my recruitment,” Dybantsa said. “Because I’m only trying to be in school for eight months, God willing. So development within those eight months will be big for me.

“I’m going to start taking my visits again around the Fall. So it’ll be from like September to October time frame, I’ll probably take on every weekend.

“Play-style will be big. I don’t want to go to a place where I don’t fit, and take playing time away from someone who does. I’m a guard/wing, so I’ll go somewhere that fits how I play.

“I want to go to a family-oriented program. If I’m leaving my family, I want to be somewhere I’m comfortable for sure. That and development will be my two biggest things. And winning, I want to go to a winning program.”
