Arkansas transfer OT Andrew Chamblee expected to commit to SMU

Arkansas transfer offensive tackle Andrew Chamblee is expected to commit to SMU, sourced told On3’s Pete Nakos and Billy Embody on Saturday evening. He was one of the most coveted offensive linemen prospects in the transfer portal. The gifted offensive tackle started eight games this year, earning All-SEC Freshman Team honors.

SMU lost four players to the transfer portal during the winter window, including first team All-AAC offensive tackle Marcus Bryant. Adding the 6-foot-6, 318-pounder fills a big position of need for the Mustangs.

SMU made an in-home visit with Chamblee in April, the first day the NCAA Transfer Portal window opened. Chamblee spent the past two seasons with the Razorbacks. He redshirted in his first year before his redshirt freshman season this past year. In 2023, he appeared in every game for the ‘Hogs, including eight starts.

He played 405 snaps for the Razorbacks, the sixth most on the Arkansas offensive line. He was rated at a 40.9 pass blocking grade and a 55.9 run-blocking grade, according to Pro Football Focus.

Last month, it was shared that Chamblee was no longer part of Arkansas’ program. The original report suggested that he had “lost the love for the game” but would not be transferring as he planned to continue his life as a student in Fayetteville.

Now, a few weeks later, that no longer appears to be the case for Chamblee.
