2026 DL Brandon Simmons reacts to his recent Miami offer: “It’s like a dream come true”
This past week the Miami Hurricanes dipped into the Garden State as they continued their spring evaluation tour and offered Glassboro (N.J.) 2026 defensive lineman Brandon Simmons, who has recently garnered attention from a handful of major programs across the country.
Simmons wasn’t the only Glassboro athlete to receive an offer from Miami, as the Canes also extended an offer to 2026 three-star ATH Amari Sabb and 2027 wide receiver Xavier Sabb as well.
“They told the three of us, and we were just really happy,” Simmons told CaneSport. “We were all smiling and giving each other high fives. We weren’t trying to get too hyped up because they had just finished talking – on the inside I was definitely really happy, but I had to keep it professional.”
Since the trio of athletes were younger, Simmons and the Sabb brothers have played alongside one another, so seeing a program like Miami offer all three made the moment that much more special.
“It’s like a dream come true because we grew up playing together since we were 5 years old,” Simmons said. “It’s really awesome to see our dreams starting to come true all together at the same time. It’s all a blessing.”
Heading into the spring Simmons is nearing double-digit offers, with Miami, Pittsburgh and West Virginia among the early Power 4 schools to offer the 6-foot-1, 260-pounder.
“It’s going really well,” Simmons said when asked about his recruitment. “Our coaches do a really good job of bringing coaches in and giving myself and the rest of the team exposure that they need and deserve.”
While Simmons has yet to visit Miami, he is hoping to do so in the coming months and hopes to learn more about the program as well.
“I definitely have to visit down there to get a good look at Miami,” Simmons said. “From the outside, I think it’s a really good school to go to. It seems like they can teach you a lot down there. Not only about football but being a man on and off the field. It seems like a place you can learn a lot from just being on that team.”
Simmons notched 46 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and seven sacks as a sophomore. According to On3’s Rankings, Simmons is the No. 39 ranked defensive lineman in the 2026 class and the No. 9 overall prospect in New Jersey.
“A lot of coaches like my get off out of my stance,” Simmons said. “Also, I bend the corner pretty well. Besides that, I would say my work ethic is there, and I’m working hard to achieve what I want to achieve, and my teammates are working hard with me.”
CaneSport’s take
In recent weeks, Miami has done its fair share of recruiting in New Jersey, with several stops at some of the state’s top football programs. With Simmons becoming one of the latest 2026 prospects to earn an offer from the Hurricanes, he will be one to monitor in the coming months as Miami welcomes prospects back down to campus in the summer for multiple camps.
