Auburn Transfer Portal Target Tracker: Defense

The NCAA transfer portal spring window opened on April 16 allowing FBS college football players to officially enter their names into the portal. Players have 15 days to enter their names into the portal, which closes on April 30.

Auburn added nine transfers during the winter window, including five on defense: safeties Jerrin Thompson (Texas) and Antonio Kite (Alabama), defensive linemen Gage Keys (Kansas) and Trill Carter (Texas) and linebacker Dorian Mausi (Duke). The Tigers will look to add more in the spring window.

Auburn is looking to add a linebacker during this window and has set its sights on Jacobs, the South Alabama transfer. Jacobs left his official visit to Auburn on Thursday (STORY) and headed for Missouri. He initially planned to visit Alabama this weekend, but that visit has been postponed, according to BamaOnLine. That, at the least, appears to be good news for Auburn.

Auburn is working to add at least one transfer defensive back during this window and has made Cole a priority. Cole is visiting Texas this weekend and is set to arrive in Auburn on Tuesday for a two-night visit. As for Ponds, Auburn has reached out, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Ponds is On3’s No. 1-ranked player in the transfer portal.
