Florida OT plans summer schedule, Penn State will get an OV
Penn State is on the official visit schedule for Florida offensive tackle Deryc Plazz, he confirmed to BWI on Sunday. The three-star prospect will start his round of June visits with a trip to Happy Valley.
“I will be taking an [official visit] to Penn State on June 2,” he said. “I’m going to Penn State, Miami on the 16th and N.C. State on the 23rd. The 9th will either be Kentucky, Oklahoma or Duke.”
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound junior picked up an offer from Penn State on April 7. He’s remained in contact with offensive line coach Phil Trautwein and he’s eager to check out the Nittany Lions for the first time next month.
Penn State has offensive line commitments from five prospects at this point, but the Nittany Lions are still attempting to add numbers in the Class of 2024, especially at offensive tackle.
N.C. State was the first Power Five program to offer Plazz and the Wolfpack hold the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. He’s been to Raleigh a few times in addition to taking trips this calendar year to Duke, Florida State, Miami, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Wake Forest.
“I want a program that develops the guys that are three or four-stars,” Plazz told On3. “Not just a school that brings in the best offensive line class every year. I want a school that actually takes time to develop guys across the field.”
He also said he wants to play against high-level competition at the college level.
“Whether it be the ACC, SEC, etc., I want a school that plays in a dominant athletic conference and also has a good education, because football doesn’t last forever,” Plazz said.
Plazz is the No. 71 offensive tackle nationally and the No. 131 overall prospect in Florida in the Class of 2023.
