Rusty’s Ramblings: Must-get 2025 WR for Georgia?

Spent time at Milton High School on Wednesday for their 1st spring practice of the year. LSU, USC and other staffs were there. Georgia commit Ethan Barbour is now at Milton after transferring over from Alpharetta. He looked great in drills and will wear No. 1 for the defending state champs. They will actually go down a class and will compete in 5A this year. They open with Buford and at American Heritage in South Florida. They are loaded with roughly 90% of their team back.

CJ Wiley, a four-star receiver in the 2025 class, is a major Georgia target. I try to not overreact on things and that is the reason I did not post last night after getting home. But I am not sure I have seen a Peach State wideout who is that big and that fast who makes things look that easy in awhile. He is so smooth, gets to top gear quickly, is fast in and out of breaks, and has natural hands. He may be the best receiver I have seen in this state in a long time.

There is the obvious LSU connection with his mom running track there. Tennessee is also a school to watch out for. One person there on Wednesday told me that Georgia could be the team to beat right now and he really likes the idea of playing for Kirby Smart. Georgia receivers coach James Coley is all over this one and is recruiting Wiley very hard. He seems to be really close with Barbour, toom, and that will not hurt. LSU receivers coach Cortez Hankton was there yesterday to see him so the Tigers have used their visit for this spring. I expect Coley and others to be there soon for the UGA visit.

Made a note yesterday but I am told that Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann spent most of the day at the school of the nation’s No. 1 rated ILB (per On3) Ty Jackson down in South Florida. He has already made two unofficial visits to Athens this spring and he will be back on campus in June at some point. MAJOR target for this staff and Schumann.
