Ole Miss makes three-star point guard Jaye Nash’s Top 8

Ole Miss makes three-star point guard Jaye Nash’s Top 8

On Saturday, Briarcrest Christian (Tenn.) point guard Jaye Nash revealed his top schools. The 6-foot-2, 180 pound prospect announced Memphis, Ole Miss, Missouri, Northwestern, LSU, Creighton, USF and Texas A&M made the cut for his Top 8, per On3’s Joe Tipton.

Nash is ranked as the country’s 147th overall recruit in the 2024 class. He is also the No. 24 point guard and top-ranked player in the state of Tennessee. In 2022, the Saints came up one win shy of a Division II-AA state championship, ending their season with a 33-3 record.

As a junior, Nash averaged close to 12 points, nine assists and four rebounds per game. This year, he broke Briarcrest Christian’s all-time assists record held by former Tennessee Volunteer and current Memphis Grizzlies point guard Kennedy Chandler.

Nash has an On3 NIL Valuation of $13.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index which sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Jaye Nash has been a staple in Memphis high school basketball since he was in the 7th grade.

The rising senior is your prototypical floor general. His pass-first approach doesn’t limit his offensive game, though. He has an innate ability to see the floor in transition and can make the extra pass in half-court sets to put his team in optimal scoring position.

He echoed this sentiment in a 2022 interview with Jake Weingarten.

“I feel like I am a pass-first PG, but I can get a bucket whenever it’s needed. I love making my teammates better and getting them open. I’m a pretty good on-ball defender also.”

Nash competes on the AAU circuit with CP3 Phenom but will also play on the Adidas 3SSB circuit with the 17U Arkansas Hawks the remainder of the summer. During his junior year, he was honored by Gatorade as a Tennessee Player of the Year nominee.

Chris Beard has yet to land a commitment in the 2024 class but he has a few top targets in his sights.

Baker (Ala.) point guard Labaron Philon recently decommitted from Auburn and Flanigan is hot on the trail. He recently told OMSpirit he “mostly hears from Wes (Flanigan)” and “(Chris) Beard likes me”. The Rebels were already among his final schools prior to his commitment to Auburn. Now they appear to be in the mix even more.

This marks the second decommitment this month for Auburn. Four-star center Peyton Marshall also reopened his recruitment.

The seven-footer is now hearing from Ole Miss and Flanigan. Like Philon, it would make a lot of sense for the nation’s 61st overall prospect to give a long look at the Rebels now with his primary recruiter on Beard’s staff. Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee have also expressed interest in the 6th-ranked center in the 2024 class.

Beard and Co. recently went in-home with him and appear to be the leader.
