2025 Warner Robins (Ga.) standout EDGE Isaiah Gibson has been committed to USC but has continued to keep his options open, and he was at Tennessee on Saturday. He detailed the stop with Volquest.
“I was really supposed to have been to Tennessee many, many times, but I haven’t been able to make it work out, so I really wanted to get back up there and take another look at it,” Gibson said. “It was really a nice visit, and I enjoyed everything about it. I got to spend a lot of time with Coach Heupel and Coach Garner. It was all good energy once I got back down there.”
The No.2 EDGE in the class got a chance to spend plenty of time with Vols Head Coach Josh Heupel during the visit.
“Me and Coach Heupel have a good relationship,” Gibson said of this. “We talk a good bit from time to time. We really didn’t talk about football. We talked about life and basketball and a lot of different things. He’s very competitive. We talked about my goals and things like that. It was all good.”
Gibson has had a long-standing relationship with Rodney Garner, and the two spent time catching up on Saturday.
“Me and Coach G, we talked about a lot of stuff, too, because he has been on me about getting on a visit to come up to Tennessee,” Gibson said. “It was all jokes and having fun with him. We have a good relationship. Really my entire family has a good relationship with him.”
Overall, the visit went well for Gibson, and there were a couple of things that caught his eye at Tennessee.
Honestly, I like the energy from all of the coaches, honestly,” Gibson said of this. “For me, I feel like they have good energy. They don’t make it all about football. They have fun, they talk trash and make it fun. They are still all about making each other. Everyone is happy there, basically. That is really what caught my eye about Tennessee.”
Gibson knows things change on daily basis in the world of college football which is why he has kept his options open. He remains firm in his commitment to USC, but he is going to keep taking visits and keeping relationships with multiple schools current.
“Not saying I plan to de-commit from USC or anything like that because I don’t, but I feel like it is best for me to keep my options open just because anything can happen,” Gibson said.
Gibson has a full month of June official visits, but he plans to return to Tennessee in the fall for a game day official visit most likely. He is still working to settle a date.
