Nebraska is high on the list for IOL John Mills following official visit

Nebraska is high on the list for IOL John Mills following official visit

John Mills was back in Nebraska for the second time in weeks. The three-star IOL from San Francisco (Calif.) St. Ignatius College Preparatory not only got a unique experience in Lincoln for the spring game but also got to dodge some severe storms traveling to Nebraska. Mills was a little late getting to Lincoln on Friday.

“We got in on Friday night,” Mills said. “It was during the storm. My flight got diverted from Lincoln to Omaha mid-flight, and then we were stuck in Omaha for two hours. We snuck out and got an Uber and got to Lincoln.”

Return visit to Nebraska was important for John Mills

Mills had a great visit the first time around. This trip was about getting a better feel for the state and the city of Lincoln. He also wanted to improve the relationships he has going at Nebraska.

“I wanted to see more of Nebraska and Lincoln, and the OV helped with that for sure. I also wanted to get a better sense of the team, the coaches, and the guys even more. It was amazing. It’s a great place.”

The spring game was a big reason for Mills to return to Lincoln this weekend. He watched the offensive line closely and liked what he saw working with all of the different quarterbacks and opening holes for the running backs.

“The offensive line looked really good,” Mills said. “They were rotating through, and every quarterback played with each team. They gave the quarterbacks some great time, and they opened some holes in the running game. The offensive line looked good for sure.”

Official visit to Nebraska has the Huskers in the conversation for Mills

Mills was very impressed by Husker Nation and the 60,000 fans showing up for the spring game. He also has family from Nebraska that he connected with this weekend.

“First off, seeing that for the spring game was insane,” Mills said. “I wasn’t in the tunnel walk, but I saw it from the outside, and it looked awesome. But I did get to walk through there, and it was amazing. I also got to see my family and friends from Lincoln. It was great.”

Mills is heavily trending towards Texas. However, his visits to Nebraska have the Huskers in the picture as a possible destination.

“It’s in the conversation, 100%,” Mills said. “The hospitality, the facilities are amazing, the fan atmosphere is also amazing, and the coaches are the reasons Nebraska is high on my list.”
