Anthony Alfredo wins $100k Dash 4 Cash for Our Motorsports with only 13 employees
Folks, one of the best storylines in NASCAR is the success that Anthony Alfredo and Our Motorsports are having in the Xfinity Series. These two decided to join forces again after a little time apart and it has been nothing but good in 2024.
Anthony Alfredo followed up his P3 finish at Talladega with a P9 result this week at Dover. That was good enough to earn him the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus. It was a hard-fought race that could have gone poorly with all of the late wrecks.
This is the third straight top-10 for Alfredo and the fifth of the season for him. The work he has done in the No. 5 car is nothing short of impressive. Being able to take that 100k back to his team is massive.
Alfredo talked to the media after the race and explained the situation at Our Motorsports. It is a team with just 13 employees. They have no big team alliances, no simulators, no engineers!
“This is huge,” Alfredo said, via Jeff Gluck of The Athletic. “You don’t understand how small our budget is compared to these bigger teams.”
Teams like Our Motorsports and drivers like Anthony Alfredo are what makes NASCAR so much fun. Underdog stories in sports are the best. Everyone loves the plucky team that no one believes in. When it all comes together and works out like it did today, those are the moments you live for.
Early in his career, Alfredo was seen as a young upstart. One of the rising stars in NASCAR. He was able to land a part-time ride with Richard Childress Racing in 2020 in the Xfinity Series. Then he made his way up to the Cup Series in 2021.
That season did not go as planned. Front Row Motorsports was not the Team Penske-aligned, Tier 1 Ford program that they are today. So, it was a failure overall. Alfredo flamed out quickly.
That is when Anthony Alfredo made his way to Our Motorsports, the first time around. That season was tough. The 23 team had a number of DNFs in the middle of the season. Even though Alfredo had a few top-10s and a top-5, it wasn’t enough to keep him around for 2023.
Last season at BJ McLeod Motorsports wasn’t much better. In fact, it was worse. However, the right people saw what he could do. Not to mention, Alfredo brings in great funding. Our Motorsports also took a step back with Blaine Perkins behind the wheel of their car in 2023.
Now, together once again, Anthony Alfredo and Our Motorsports are succeeding. Honestly, beyond anyone’s expectations, even their own. All of a sudden, the 25-year-old driver is looking like a hot commodity again. If he keeps it up, Our might not be able to keep him for 2025.
