Atlanta Falcons select Zion Logue in sixth round of 2024 NFL Draft

The Atlanta Falcons selected Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Zion Logue in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, using the No. 197 overall pick. Logue enters the NFL after spending five seasons with the Bulldogs and helping the team win national titles in 2021 and 2022.

Logue played a key role in the Bulldogs defense the last five seasons. In 2023, the Tennessee native recorded 17 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and half a sack. In the previous season, Logue played in 14 of 15 games and tallied 16 tackles, including three tackles and a fumble recovery against Auburn.

In 2021, Logue played in all 15 games and finished with 11 tackles and three quarterback pressures. He played in five games in 2020 and registered eight tackles, including a career-best five tackles in the win against South Carolina.

During Georgia’s Pro Day, head coach Kirby Smart revealed what Logue brings to the NFL. “Toughness, culture builder, extreme effort,” he said, per Dawgs HQ. “He’s probably on every one of our tapes we show the first day of practice of, we call it getting out of a stack. He covers down at a high level. He plays on field goal PAT, he played on punt protection.”

“My first word was ball,” Logue said when reflecting on his earliest NFL memories. “There’s so many of them. I was a huge college football fan growing up … Going through this process and seeing teams that I’ve admired over the years, seeing Coach (Mike) Tomlin face to face, it’s like, ‘Wow!’”

Logue played high school football at Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Tennessee, where he was a four-star recruit. He ranked as the No. 369 overall prospect and No. 43 defensive lineman in the 2019 class, according to the On3 Industry Rating.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Zion Logue

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com shared his analysis of Logue for his draft profile. He believed that Logue was not going to be drafted because of his lack of production and technique.

“With one year as a full-time starter, Logue is still inexperienced despite staying for five years at Georgia,” Zierlein wrote. “He has good size and length but average body composition. He rarely reads early block movement and finds himself on the wrong side of move blocks a disappointingly high number of times, despite decent initial quickness. Logue just doesn’t have a go-to skill set that allows him to stand out.”
