Five-star CB Kobe Black to make summer visit to USC

Texas is rapidly becoming a hotbed for USC recruiting, which should come as a surprise to no one with Lincoln Riley at the helm. The Trojans have one Texan committed in McKinney running back Bryan Jackson and will have several on official visits in June. A new name out of Texas though has been added to the visit list, this one an unofficial visit.

According to On3’s Sam Spiegelman, five-star Waco (Tex.) Connally cornerback Kobe Black will be making an unofficial visit to USC.

“Sources close to Black’s recruitment tell On3 that the five-star DB will also make summer unofficial visits out to both USC and Oregon. It would be Black’s first time at both campuses,” Spiegelman reported.

Black is the No. 18 overall prospect and No. 3 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Texas.

Some thoughts on the visit for Black

It is interesting to see Black getting out to the west coast at this time point in his recruitment. In large part, his recruitment has stayed in the borders of Texas and occasionally into neighbor states. At this time, it is hard to think the one unofficial visit will do enough to warrant the Trojans becoming a major factor, but anything is possible.
