What Jordan Pope brings to the Texas Longhorns
The addition of Oregon State guard Jordan Pope means the 2024-25 version of the Longhorns will have options aplenty on the offensive end of the floor.
Pope, the only one of these transfers with more than one year of eligibility left (he has two to play), was a wizard in the mid-range this past season for the Beavers. Pope gets great bounce off of his hard dribble looks and is comfortable going either to his right or left (faster to his left but gets squared better going right). He sees the floor well and does a good job making the solid pass (doesn’t necessarily pass people open, but still). He also is pretty tight with his ball handling and avoids live ball turnovers.
While not the sharpshooter from deep that Max Abmas was for Texas, Pope is every bit of the playmaker and dynamic scorer that Texas needs as they fill out a roster that includes multiple scorers at every position.
Prediction: Starter (Guard)
