JD PicKell: Georgia’s win total ‘scary,’ but will go over
Win totals for SEC teams are out and to no surprise, Vegas expects Georgia to perform the best. Fresh off back-to-back national championships, Kirby Smart will be looking for a three-peat but first, will have to make his way through the regular season. The line has been set at 11.5, with many expecting the Bulldogs to once again go undefeated.
On3’s J.D. PicKell is on that side, saying he will be taking the over on Georgia. Predicting teams to go undefeated can be a scary one, especially when facing an SEC schedule. However, when you have been on a roll over the past two years as the Bulldogs have, it’s becoming hard to bet against them.
“Georgia Bulldogs,” PicKell began. “The win total, it’s scary. It’s a little bit frightening. 11.5 wins over/under. What does that mean? If you like the over on that, you got to pick Georgia to go undefeated. Spoiler — we like the over on that. And you’re saying ‘J.D., c’mon man. That’s scary. You’re picking them to go undefeated?’
“Listen, if it scares you, we’ll lock arms, we’ll do this together. Safe game, safe prizes, man. Do you really want to look Kirby Smart in the face and tell him you didn’t bet on his team to go undefeated?”
Georgia had its main nonconference matchup taken away from them. They were scheduled to travel to Norman and face off against Oklahoma. However, due to the Sooners joining the SEC in 2024, the conference canceled the game.
Now, Tennessee looks to be the toughest game on the schedule. Predicting a late November game in May can be a difficult one but PicKell is confident Georgia will get the job done at Neyland Stadium.
“It really just comes down to Tennessee. You go to Knoxville, you go to Neyland (Stadium) and we’ll pick that game when it gets here. But if I am a betting man — and I am a betting man today — I’m betting on Kirby Smart and company to go undefeated. I’m going over 11.5 wins. Go ahead and lock that one in for the Dawgs in Athens.”
While a few teams in the SEC might be trending upwards, none will be playing at the level Georgia has been recently under Smart. Even if there were a few tough games on the schedule, you could convince yourself into the Bulldogs having an undefeated 2023 season.
