LSU MBB set to host transfer guard this weekend
LSU is set to host Richmond transfer guard Dji Bailey this weekend, as first reported by Derek Murray and confirmed by sources to The Bengal Tiger. Bailey is a 6-foot-5 scorer from Wilson, North Carolina who spent four years at Richmond before entering the portal in late March.
Bailey averaged 10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists this past season, starting 24 games and playing 31.1 minutes in 33 contests. He finished the season ranked first in the A-10 in field goal percentage at 59.4 percent and also had 1.7 steals per game.
He was named the Atlantic 10’s Most Improved Player after his scoring jumped from three points per game as a junior to over 10 as a senior. In his first three years at Richmond, he was not impactful as a scorer, averaging 1.8, 1.9, and 3.0 points in those three seasons, but his numbers took a massive jump in 2024 and now command some serious attention in the transfer portal.
Bailey scored 15 points in the final game of the season against Virginia Tech in 35 minutes in the first round of the NIT.
LSU has one scholarship remaining and is looking to add one more talented player who can contribute and it seems the Tigers could be looking for more guard help if the wings they have targeted don’t work out. LSU has already added guards Jordan Sears and Cam Carter who are set to be impactful players and have a pair of freshman guards in Vyctorious Miller and Curtis Givens who are high-upside prospects to help fill out the roster in 2024-25. Matt McMahon comes off of a successful year two at LSU and is looking to keep the ball rolling with more talent on the way.
Stay tuned to the Bengal Tiger for the latest updates on basketball recruiting.
